Melbourne artist Nicholas Jones has been described as a book artist, book carver and ‘book dissector’.

He regularly carves, tears and folds the pages of discarded books to create small sculptural forms that invite contemplation of books as objects.

Notions of time and labour are evident in Jones’ meticulously-crafted works, the artist likening his approach to traditional handcrafts such as knitting and crochet.

Medallion, published by the author, was named after the Greek cake shop in Lonsdale Street, Melbourne.
